Pathway Offered at Norco HighYr 1 - Manufacturing & Prototyping 1A/1B*
Yr 2 - Design Manufacturing Technology 1A/1B Yr 3 - Not offered at this time Yr 4 - Not offered at this time Yr 1 - Manufacturing & Prototyping 1A/1B*Prerequisites: None
Course Description: Students may take either a semester or year of this 3D printing course. This introductory course provides students with a well-rounded experience which starts with designing a product using SolidWorks software, an industry standard. Once designed, the item is printed on new, state-of-the-art 3D printers in the newly constructed lab adjacent to the classroom. Once the item is printed, laser engravers help to shape and refine the design as well as add text. Then, the packaging is created by first establishing a pattern using special, industry software, which programs the die-cut machine to cut a precise shape into either cardboard or sheet metal for the final product packaging. Once complete, students will have a product, the packaging, and instructions for the user of the item and will have experience using 3D printers, laser engravers, pattern-development, molding, injection-molding, and be able to read and interpret plans and drawings. The introductory project includes making a peg-board game as seen in the photo to the right. Yr 2 - Design Manufacturing TechnologyPrerequisites: Manufacturing & Prototyping 1
Course Description: This advanced course is an extension of the introductory class, which includes 2D line, 3D solid modeling, 3D printing, and more. Yr 3 - Coming Soon!* = Meets California UC's a-g requirements
** = Articulated with a California Community College (student can earn college credit by showing their high school transcript to the college the course is articulated with regardless of whether the student wants to attend there or not) *** = Both UC a-g and articulated with the Community College **** = UC a-g and NCAA Official Club: SkillsUSA |
The Manufacturing and Prototyping class makes N keychains as thank-you gifts for the staff and presenters at the Step-Up Event on 10/11/17.
