Course Description: This year-long course introduces students to Adobe Photoshop while exploring two- and three-dimensional real-world applications of design. After acquiring a historical context of graphic design, students will develop skills in artistic perception, critiquing, and application of design strategies through experiences that emphasize solving visual art problems. Students who successfully complete this course will be proficient with the use of Photoshop's tools including complex editing, retouching, and compositing photographic images. Additionally, students will be eligible to take the official Adobe Certification exam. Yr 2 - Graphic Design 2* (Adobe Illustrator)Prerequisites: Graphic Design 1
Course Description: Advanced Graphic Design is a continuation of Year 1 and is offered to students who have successfully completed the beginning course. This course is an introductory class to Adobe Illustrator - a popular software tool used by graphic designers to design logos and other graphic images. Students will design posters for school events, dance tickets for school dances, and various projects around school. Students who complete this course will be eligible to take the official Adobe Certification exam. Yr 3 - Graphic Design 3 (Adobe InDesign)Prerequisites: Graphic Design 1 and 2
Course Description: Students' third year in this program introduces them to Adobe InDesign - a software program used for creating posters, flyers, brochures, magazines, newspapers, newsletters, presentations, and books. In addition to learning this third program in the Adobe Suite, students will also incorporate their learning from their first and second years of Graphic Design as they incorporate Photoshop and Illustrator to produce graphic design work. * = Meets California UC's a-g requirements

Meet the Instructor: Ms. Krueger has been with Norco High School since 2013-14 and has been an instrumental part of the transition to become an official CTE course. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor's from the College of Literature, Science and Arts with a concentration in Film and Video Studies. She began her professional career in Ann Arbor, MI as a digital ink and painter with Media Station, Inc. (a small computer company that produced educational computer games for companies from Disney to Mattel to Hasbro), then became an Assistant Art Director. She has also worked in the music industry as she designed the CD packaging. She is now working hard to implement the college-readiness elements into her program as she focuses this year on implementing Adobe certification, work to obtain college articulation, and establish business relationships for future interns.
